When and how Bulgarian corporate tax should be paid

Bulgarian companies are charged 10% of their taxable profit as corporate tax.

Bulgarian companies have to pay, throughout the year, tax advances on the estimated amount of profit for the current year.

In this purpose, companies must state, between March 1 and April 15 of each year, the foreseeable amount of their taxable income for the current year. They then have until November 15 to submit one or more corrective statements if the situation tends to change, one way or the other.

Companies whose annual turnover achieved two years earlier (for example in 2022 for 2024) exceeded 3,000,000 BGN (i.e. 1,530,000 EUR) must pay monthly installments of taxes (i.e. for the months of January, February and March, no later than April 15, then for the months of April to November, no later than the 15th of the current month, and finally for December, no later than 1st December).

Companies whose turnover achieved two years earlier is between 300,000 BGN (i.e. 153,000 EUR) and 3,000,000 BGN (i.e. 1,530,000 EUR) must pay quarterly tax installments (for the first and second quarters, no later than the 15th of the month following the quarter, then for the third quarter, no later than December 1, while for the fourth quarter it is not there is no obligation to pay a deposit).

Bulgarian companies whose turnover for the previous year remained below 300,000 BGN (i.e. 153,000 EUR) are exempt from paying tax installments. The same applies in principle to newly incorporated companies.

The final payment of the tax, adjusted according to the final amount of the tax result, must be made no later than June 30 of the following year, the latest date for Bulgarian companies to file their tax return.
